Jesus has something for everybody. No matter who you may be, you need what Jesus can offer. Let’s look at some vital things that Jesus can give you.

Jesus Can Give You Salvation from Past Sins

Since we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), we all need what Jesus can offer us here. We all need to have our sins forgiven. Jesus alone can offer this to us. God can forgive us of our sins because Jesus was willing to pay the price that no one else could pay. He was willing to take on flesh and to die on the Cross so that we could enjoy the forgiveness of sins. The sacrifice of Christ made it possible for God to forgive us of our sins without ignoring them. Listen to Paul:

Romans 3:24-26 (ESV)

²⁴ and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. ²⁶ It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Even those Old Testament saints who died under the law of Moses, and those who lived before the law of Moses, owe their redemption to Christ. The redemption for them and us is found in the blood of Christ. By shedding His blood, Jesus paid the price for our transgressions. Now because of His sin-offering, i.e., the willing sacrifice of Himself (Hebrews 9:14), He can and does offer salvation to all. Jesus tasted death for every man (Hebrews 2:9). This does not mean, however, that every living person is going to be saved. The salvation is conditional. The condition is that we obey the gospel and walk in the light (Romans 1:16; 1 John 1:7). Jesus offers us redemption through His blood (Ephesians 1:7), but we must contact that blood by our acceptance of the gospel. Once you obey the gospel, all of your sins are taken away. Only Jesus can do that!

Jesus Can Give You Mediation

Why do we pray in the name of Jesus? Because Jesus is our Mediator. Paul said, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). This is another thing that no other man can give you, except Jesus. This is why prayer is a blessing reserved for those who are in Christ. Those living in sin cannot pray because they have no mediator (John 9:31). If you obey the gospel, Jesus will become your mediator as well. That will benefit you whenever you pray. Indeed, without the mediation of Christ, we could not even approach the throne of God in an acceptable fashion. And what about when we sin? John wrote, “…And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:2). This is what makes the present dispensation such a great one. Man no longer lives under a law that demands absolute perfection. God wants us to do our very best, trying never to sin. However, when we fall short, we can get our lives right with God because we have an advocate Who will mediate between us and God. Who has this privilege? Again, those who are in Christ. Why not thankfully receive that which Christ can give you by obeying the gospel as soon as possible?

Jesus Can Give You Eternal Life

The promise of Jesus is as follows: “Be thou faithful until death, and I will give thee a crown of life” (Revelation 2:10). Two things are necessary in order to receive what Jesus is offering here. First, as we have already seen, you must obey the gospel. But secondly, you must be faithful until death. Just being baptized for the remission of past sins is not good enough. It is a necessary step in order to get into Christ, but it is not the last step for you to take. After baptism you must live by the Bible and, thus, be led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:1-4). If you believe in Jesus, obey the gospel, and live faithfully until the end of your life, salvation will be yours. In another place we read, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:14). This is something that you and I can have if we want it badly enough. Jesus is willing to give it to us, but we need to receive it. Will you receive eternal life from Jesus? Obey the gospel or be restored while you still have the chance.
