How was your day today? Every day brings something new, doesn’t it? Sometimes it is good sometimes it is not so good. Regardless of what the day brings, we thank God for every day. God has blessed us with life, and we should be thankful. Still, life isn’t always easy. Along with the good, there are moments of frustration, disappointment, anger, exasperation, etc. Job said, “Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble.” Who can argue with that?
As good as God is, and He is unimaginably good, He has not put some magical force field around us to keep us from the difficulties of life. He has given us solutions for problems, and He gives us help in times of need (Hebrew 4:16), but still, in everyday life, days can sometimes be long and tiresome. One way we can end the day well, regardless of what kind of day we have had, is to spend a little time with God’s word. God’s word has a way of putting everything into perspective. It helps us to realize what is important in life (Matthew 16:25-26), to focus our minds on spiritual things (Colossians 3:1-2), and to remember that no matter what happens during the day, God is still with us. Paul once asked, “If God is with us, who can be against us?” The bible translation called The Message says, “With God on our side like this, how can we lose?” That may not be the most accurate translation, but boy is it true!
Were things especially difficult at work today? Was your boss irritating and your co-workers infuriating? Don’t worry about it, you haven’t lost anything if God is still with you. Was it one of those days when your baby would not stop crying, your two-year-old had an upset stomach, and your four-year-old decided to sneak off and try on a little of your mascara? It is okay! You haven’t lost anything, except, maybe, a small portion of your mind. But God is still with you. When your car overheated this morning, and you thought maybe you were running low on coolant, did the mechanic tell you that instead you have a blown head gasket? Yes, that is bad news, and it will probably cost you a lot to fix, but at the end of the day, what it won’t cost you is your soul. You are still victorious in Christ, and God is still with you. Aren’t you glad that the word of God reminds us that no matter what happens during the day, we can’t lose with God in our life? The scriptures are indeed a great source of comfort (Romans 15:4).
With this in mind, I’m going to post a short blog on this website every weekday evening (Monday-Friday @ 8:00 P.M.), that centers around a particular passage of scripture. I hope that you will keep up with this blog, and that it will help you to end your day well before you call it a night and help you have a renewed spirit as you look forward to another day tomorrow.
